The On To the Future (OTF)
On To the
Future OTF is GSA’s diversity initiative aimed at building a diverse geoscience community by engaging groups traditionally underrepresented in the geosciences. OTF awards partial travel scholarships to undergraduate and graduate students, and recent graduates studying in the geosciences, to attend their first GSA Annual Meeting.
While the OTF Program provides travel awards to attend the GSA Annual Meeting, GSA Section Meetings can be critical recruiting platforms for the program. The OTF application period begins in spring with students awarded scholarships during the summer.
At Section Meetings, OTF will have an on-site representative at the GSA Foundation booth where students and faculty, who may wish to apply or nominate students for awards, can ask questions, pick up printed materials and connect with past OTF participants. The GSA Foundation booth will distribute informational flyers about the program at the Welcome Reception and the Program Manager (below) will work with Section Chairs to advertise the program on the Section Meeting website, if desired.
