Career Mentoring Luncheons
- Roy J. Shlemon Mentors Program in Applied Geoscience
- Sun., 20 March, noon–1:30 p.m. Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Commons on Vine
- GSA student members will have the opportunity to discuss career prospects and challenges with applied geoscientists from various sectors over a FREE lunch. GSA student members will receive priority; any remaining space will be offered to student nonmembers on a first come, first served basis.
- John Mann Mentors Program in Applied Hydrogeology
- Mon., 21 March, noon–1:30 p.m. Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Commons on Vine
- GSA student members interested in applied hydrogeology or hydrology as a career will have the opportunity to network with professionals in these fields over a FREE lunch. GSA student members will receive priority; any remaining space will be offered to student non-members on a first come, first served basis.
Career Workshop Series
- Geoscience Career Workshop Part 1
- Sun., 20 March, 9–10 a.m. Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Conestoga Room
- Your job-hunting process should begin with career planning, not when you apply for jobs. This workshop will help you begin this process and will help you to practice your networking skills. This section is highly recommended for freshmen, sophomores and juniors. The earlier you start your career planning the better.
- Geoscience Career Workshop Part 2
- Sun., 20 March, 10–11 a.m. Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Conestoga Room
- What do geologists in various sectors earn? What do they do? What are the pros and cons to working in academia, government, and industry? Workshop presenters and professionals in the field will address these issues.
- Geoscience Career Workshop Part 3
- Mon., 21 March, 9–10 a.m. Lancaster Marriott at Penn Square, Conestoga Room
- How do you prepare a cover letter? Does your résumé need a good edit? Whether you are currently on the job market or not, learn how to prepare the best résumé possible. You will review numerous examples to help you learn important résumé do’s and don’ts.

meeting in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Learn

Northeastern Urban Award for Non-Traditional Students
Deadline: 7 Feb. 2022, 11:59 p.m. EST
Students are invited to apply for a grant designed to help defray the cost of participating in the
Northeastern Section meeting, 20-22 March 2022, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. Students who work full-time,
care for dependents, or are otherwise considered non-traditional may request up to $1000 which can be
applied to such expenses as: dependent care, meeting registration, abstract fees, GSA membership for two
years, and lost wages (if applicable) to attend the section meeting. Preference will be given to
students in the NE section and those presenting papers, but students from other sections may apply.
The application requires a letter of recommendation by a faculty member. GSA does not accept letters of
recommendation submitted by applicants, please have your recommender submit it directly.
Professionals
If you like to share your interest, enthusiasm, and experience in applied geology, consider being a GSA
mentor at the joint meeting. Being a mentor is a rewarding experience. To learn more, contact Jennifer

This meeting also offers an excellent opportunity to earn CEUs toward your continuing education
requirements for your employer, K–12 school, or professional registration. The CEU certificate can be
downloaded from the meeting website after the meeting.
