Description: Explore 43 million years of geologic history in the Rio Grande Valley. See evidence of moving shorelines; a massive Oligocene volcanic eruption that produced rock products used by Native Americans and modern peoples; the changing course of the Rio Grande; and anthropogenic impacts on the flood plain. Sites of historic interest are included.

Description: The Rio Grande delta is an unusual and distinctive delta with a complex history still being unraveled. The trip will visit classic localities of clay dunes and esteros, the beachfront, modern and ancient river channels, and more. Sites of historic interest are included.
