Description: This short course provides an opportunity for faculty to
develop a strong foundation in course design principles and research-based instructional
strategies. These principles and strategies characterize high-impact active-learning
classrooms. By the end of this short course, participants should be able to (1) apply
course design principles to a course of their choosing, (2) discern in which contexts
different instructional strategies are most impactful and why, and (3) call on members
of this learning community for support in ongoing course development and teaching
efforts. Participants who complete this short course will receive a certificate of
completion, which may be valuable for their annual merit reviews, promotion cases,
and/or tenure cases.
