Professional Development

On To the Future alumni may apply for a special award to receive financial support to attend one GSA annual meeting and one spring GSA section meeting.

At the fall meeting, awardees will attend a full-day professional development workshop focused on cover letters and internships, while the spring meeting workshop will offer assistance with résumés, CVs, and cover letters for employment.

This project is a partnership between the University of Arkansas and GSA, with assistance from UNAVCO and the University of Texas-Austin, and sponsored by the National Science Foundation.

Eligibility

Eligible applicants meet the following criteria:

  • Enrolled in a degree program at a university or college in the United States or Canada.
  • Undergraduate or early graduate student with an interest in applying to an internship program, and employment assistance.
  • Students from an underrepresented community in the geosciences and/or a past On To the Future participant. Special priority will be give to OTF alumni.
  • Able to attend the virtual workshop to be held in the fall 2020 (date TBD), and one 2021 spring workshop associated with the Cordilleran or North Central/South Central Section Meetings.
The application deadline for 2020 has passed.
