Travel to Loreto
The meeting takes place in Loreto, Baja California Sur, Mexico, with convenient air access via Loreto International Airport (LTO), located just a short drive from downtown and meeting venues.
For those traveling by road, Loreto sits along Highway 1 (Carretera Transpeninsular), offering a scenic route down the Baja peninsula. Once in town, attendees will enjoy a walkable, waterfront destination with close access to hotels, restaurants, and harbor views—making it easy to move between scientific sessions and coastal relaxation.
Traveling to Loreto, requires some advance planning due to limited flight availability, but several good options are available depending on your budget, schedule, and preferred level of logistics. Attendees are encouraged to review the options below and book early.
Primary travel options include:
- Fly Direct to Loreto (LTO)
The simplest option with the fewest logistics. Direct flights are available on select days from Los Angeles (LAX) and Phoenix (PHX), but airfare may be higher and schedules are limited. Airlines that fly directly to Loreto include American Airlines and Alaska Airlines.
- Fly via San Diego and the Cross Border Xpress (CBX) into Tijuana
A potentially more cost-effective option that involves flying to San Diego, then crossing the CBX pedestrian bridge into the Tijuana airport to access domestic flights to Loreto. This option requires additional steps, including organizing ground transportation to CBX and purchasing the CBX ticket.
- Fly to La Paz (LAP) and Travel by Ground to Loreto
La Paz offers more frequent flight options, both domestically within Mexico and from Los Angeles. Ground transportation from La Paz to Loreto takes just over four hours by rental car.
