GSA Statement on President's FY18 Budget Request
Boulder, Colo., USA: GSA is deeply concerned about the cuts to geoscience research proposed in the Administration's budget request. The Administration calls for large reductions for basic research that fuels discovery of our planet and others at the National Science Foundation, data from the U.S. Geological Survey that is used by communities across the nation to make informed decisions in land use planning, emergency response, natural resource management, engineering, and education, and research at the Department of Energy that drives innovation. These cuts—and others to our nation's research and education programs—would harm our nation's scientific leadership, economic growth, and national security.
GSA hopes that Members of Congress will reject these cuts and continue to support science in a bipartisan manner as the appropriations process moves forward.
