Laboratory Equipment Specialist, Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences, Iowa State University
The Department of Geological and Atmospheric Sciences in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Iowa State University invites applications for a laboratory equipment specialist in the Geology program.
The successful candidate will be responsible for departmental and laboratory equipment including, but not limited to: SEM, mass spectrometer, ice deformation (ring shear) device, structural geology shear strain tables, hydrogeology field equipment, 3D printers, and various wet lab facilities. Duties to include developing safe work practices and standard operating procedures as well as training faculty, staff and students on use of equipment. Duties also include managing departmental space and curating rock/teaching-laboratory collections and spending 1 to 2 weeks at the Department’s Wyoming Field Station to help with operational maintenance.
Candidates must have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree plus one year of related experience.
