Geoscience Graduate Teaching Assistantship Available, Fall 2018, Department of Sustainability & Environment, University of South Dakota

The Department of Sustainability & Environment at the University of South Dakota  is accepting applications immediately for the graduate program in Sustainability for the Fall 2018 semester. A graduate assistantship is available for an MS student with an appropriate background to serve as a teaching assistant for Earth Science courses. Potential thesis research topics for this student will include: 1) geoheritage, cataloging sites of geologic interest in South Dakota and assessing their protection, and their utilization for informal geoscience education (current and potential); or 2) loess deposits in the state of South Dakota, including their spatial coverage, thickness, source areas, and potential for soil erosion – a critical concern for sustaining agriculture.

This position includes a teaching assistantship stipend of $13k per academic year. The student would TA labs for introductory Earth Science courses; students who have taken coursework in Earth Science or related fields are preferred.
