Geological Society of America Publications Accessibility Statement
Measures to Support Accessibility
Geological Society of America (GSA) Publications takes the following measures to ensure the accessibility of its materials:
For our scholarly books published April 2025 and going forward:
- In production workflow, include alt text procurement for figures and images in chapters and for cover images.
- Tag text and structure headings in book chapter PDFs.
- Ensure tables in book chapter PDFs have correctly tagged headers and cell markup.
- Set PDF language and title for book chapters.
Conformance Status
The Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) defines requirements for designers and developers to improve accessibility for people with disabilities. It defines three levels of conformance: Level A, Level AA, and Level AAA. GSA Publications strives to meet WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility standards across its web content, though some exceptions may occur. Regular evaluations assess the majority of content as conformant.
