Donald Siegel, GSA President

The transition from last year’s Executive Committee to the new one this year happened seamlessly as usual on July 1st. I thank you for allowing me the opportunity to serve as our new President. Robbie Gries now will serve as Immediate Past President. I will rely on her to guide me to properly lead and continue to advance full inclusion in our society at all levels. Isabel Montañez has completed her Immediate Past President position and GSA and I thank her for her work on our behalf these past three years. In my term as president, I will continue to work with GSA staff and Council, new President-elect Doug Walker, and new Councilor-at-large Ed Harvey to begin implementation of our exciting decadal strategic plan. We will initially focus our efforts to enhance our international presence and additional engagement with current and new society members. I’m refining my presidential address for our pending annual meeting in Phoenix where I will pose a different kind of challenge to our geoscientists with respect to our changing world. I look forward to seeing you at this meeting. Feel free to engage me wherever you see me. You can find me wearing my blue outback hat, a half head above most others. You can also contact me at president@geosociety.org.
