GSA Code of Conduct
In the spirit of GSA’s continued commitment to the highest standards for professional ethical conduct, the Society will be evaluating its Code of Conduct to assure it clearly articulates the expected standards of professional ethics and provides a due process by which to investigate and act on breaches of the Code. This effort will be guided by a newly established ad hoc Ethics Committee, chaired by Neil Fishman, a former GSA Councilor and previous Chair of the ad hoc committee charged to develop GSA’s Code of Conduct for Events as well as the Diversity Working Group. The new committee will include student, early career professional, academic, government, and industry members. The Committee anticipates presenting its findings and recommendations in Spring 2018 with the opportunity for feedback from the membership to follow.
As with our well-received GSA Events Code of Conduct, we remain proactive in our efforts to promote and endorse ethical professional behavior in all facets of the Society’s activities, including meetings, field and work environments, and in the conveyance of scientific findings through its publications and conferences. It is the Society’s intention to be a leader in building and sustaining a culture of ethical civil behavior in the geosciences.
