"North Shore Connector"
Tue., March 22, 3-5 p.m. Cost: Free. Max.: 30 (2 groups of 15 — group will need to be limited if proper equipment is not available). Signup sheets, hold harmless waivers, and personal information forms will be located at the GSA Registration Desk on the 17th Floor of the Omni William Penn Hotel. First Come, First Served.
Leader: Judy Neelan, Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Protection, , +1-412 442-4087. Purpose: To visit the soon-to-be-open subway tunnel connection with the North Shore of Pittsburgh accompanied by professionals who have been involved in its construction. The group will enter through the uncompleted Gateway Station and view a short safety presentation before walking to the borehole. Steel-toed (or OSHA approved construction) footwear, hard hats, safety vests and goggles will be required. Some of these items may be available through the tour hosts however, registrants are strongly advised to bring your own. You will be asked to indicate which items you have on the sign-up sheet. Group will meet at 2:45 p.m. and depart promptly at 3:00 from the Grant Street Lobby of the hotel. The group will make the short walk, approximately 15 minutes, to the Gateway Station site from the hotel. - Welcoming Reception
