Mentor Programs
- 1. Roy J. Shlemon Mentor Program in Applied Geoscience.
Cosponsored by the GSA Foundation.
Sun.-Mon., 14-15 March, lunchtime. - The Shlemon Mentor Programs are designed to extend the mentoring reach of individual professionals from applied geology to undergraduates and graduate students attending GSA Section Meetings. Over FREE LUNCHES, mentors discuss professional opportunities and challenges that await students after graduation. Every registered student will receive free tickets to both of the Shlemon Luncheons along with his/her badge; however, attendance is limited and meals are on a first come, first served basis. - 2. The John Mann Mentors in Applied Hydrogeology Program.
Coponsored by the GSA Foundation.
Tues. 16 March, lunchtime. - The Mann Mentors in Applied Hydrogeology Program presents mentoring opportunities for undergraduate, graduate, and recent graduate students with a declared interest in applied hydrogeology as a career to interact and network with practicing hydrogeology professionals. This relaxed, but focused, small-scale event features a FREE LUNCH for student and professional participants. Every registered student will receive a free ticket to the Mann Luncheon along with his/her badge; however, attendance is limited, and meals are on a first come, first served. Student Travel Grants
Application deadline: 8 February 2010
Travel grants are available from GSA's Northeastern and Southeastern Sections in cooperation with the GSA Foundation and are open to all GSA student members who are currently enrolled in Northeastern and Southeastern section schools and presenting oral or poster papers at this meeting. You must be registered for the meeting before you can apply online for the travel grant. The online application will be available during the registration period.

Student Volunteers Needed
Deadline to Sign-up: 16 February 2010
The Local Committee for the Joint NE/SE GSA Meeting in Baltimore, 13-16 March, needs about 50 student volunteers to help with Registration and Audio Visual duties, both in the Speaker Ready Room and in Oral Session Rooms, during the meeting. We offer free registration in exchange for two half-days (each about 3-5 hours) of help.
We have to following needs:
- Saturday, March 13—Several students who can work approx. 2 PM to 6 PM, and several more who can work 5 PM to 9 PM.
- Sunday, March 14—Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 AM to Noon, some who can work Noon to 5 PM, and a few who can work 5 to 9 PM.
- Monday, March 15—Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 AM to Noon, some who can work Noon to 5 PM, and a few who can work 5 to 9 PM.
- Tuesday, March 16—Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 AM to Noon, and less but still several who can work Noon to 5:30 PM.

If you are presenting a paper, please be sure you take account of the time when your presentation is, and be sure you know when you will be arriving at and leaving the meeting.
Please DO NOT register for the meeting until you have heard back from Dr. Guertin.; She will prepare a work schedule and notify volunteers no later than 1 March when and where you are expected to work, and will give you a special code to register on line as a student volunteer.
