- Roy J. Shlemon Mentor Programs in Applied Geoscience.
Thurs., 27 May, lunchtime. - The Shlemon Mentor Programs are designed to extend the mentoring reach of individual professionals from applied geology to undergraduates and graduate students attending GSA sectional meetings. Over FREE LUNCHES, mentors and students discuss professional opportunities and challenges that await students after graduation. Every student will receive a free ticket to the Shlemon Luncheons along with his/her badge; however, space is limited.

Sat., 29 May, lunchtime. - The Mann Mentors in Applied Hydrogeology Program presents mentoring opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students as well as recent graduates with a declared interest in applied hydrogeology as a career to interact and network with practicing hydrogeology professionals. This relaxed but focused small-scale event features a FREE LUNCH for student and mentors. Every student will receive a free ticket to the Mann Luncheon along with his/her badge; however, space is limited.

Student Volunteers Needed

The Local Committee for the Joint GSA/AAPG Meeting in Fullerton, 27-29 May 2010, needs student volunteers to help with Registration and Audio Visual duties, both in the Speaker Ready Room and in Oral Session Rooms, during the meeting. We offer free registration in exchange for two half-days (each about 4-5 hours) of help.
We have the following needs:
- Wednesday, May 26-Several students who can work approx. 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., and several more who can work 4 p.m. to 9 p.m..
- hursday, May 27-Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. to Noon, some who can work Noon to 5 PM, and a few who can work 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Friday, May 28-Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. to Noon, some who can work Noon to 5 PM, and a few who can work 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
- Saturday, May 29-Several students who can work 6:30 or 7:30 a.m. to Noon, and less but still several who can work Noon to 5:30 p.m.

If you are presenting a paper, please be sure you take account of the time when your presentation is, and be sure you know when you will be arriving at and leaving the meeting.
Please DO NOT register for the meeting until you have heard back from Dr. Bonuso; Upon submitting your application she will email you to confirm receipt and to give you a special code to register as a student volunteer. She will prepare a work schedule and notify volunteers no later than 14 May as to when and where you are expected to work.
