GENERAL INFORMATION
ACCESSIBILITY
GSA and UBC are committed to providing access to all individuals interested in attending. Please indicate any special requirements when you register.
PASSPORTS
Passports are required to fly into Canada. Obtaining passports may be a lengthy process; therefore, it's important to begin the passport application process immediately.
LOCAL LAWS
The legal drinking age in British Columbia is 19. Therefore, most students may take part in conference activities that include alcohol, such as receptions and wine tasting tours.
CURRENCY
At press time, the exchange rate was ~US$.80 cents per Canadian dollar (called a "loonie"). At this exchange rate, costs for housing and meals will be very affordable for visitors from the United States. Currency can be obtained from any major U.S. bank or from bank machines in Canada that use one of the many international networks.
