Robert K. Fahnestock Memorial Research Award
Application DEADLINE: 1 February

The Fahnestock Research Award was set up by GSA in memory of Robert K. Fahnestock, a Division member who was killed in a plane crash while enroute to serve on the GSA Committee on Research Grants. As Fahnestock was known primarily for his work in fluvial geomorphology, the award is given annually to the student who submits the most outstanding research proposal to GSA in the field of sediment transport or related aspects of fluvial geomorphology. Winners of special named GSA awards, such as this one, are selected by the GSA Committee on Research Grants from applicants to the general research grants program; the Division is not involved. However, the Division publishes the winner of the award in the Newsletter and the Newsletter Editor/Webmaster lists the winner of the Fahnestock Award in an informal flyer handed out at the Awards Ceremony at the Annual Meeting.
