GSA Books

Author Information

As part of its mission to advance the science of geology, the Geological Society of America publishes peer-reviewed scholarly books, most of them as Special Papers or Memoirs. The Special Paper series is for state-of-the-art treatments of rapidly evolving subjects; nearly all symposium-based volumes fall into this category. The Memoir series is for works likely to remain the authoritative reference on a subject for a number of years. It is the responsibility of the GSA Books Science Editor to decide whether a proposed volume is more suitable for the Special Paper or Memoir series.

The Reviews in Engineering Geology series is the product of GSA's Engineering Geology Division, which is responsible for the selection, review process, and acceptance of manuscripts for this series. The GSA Books Science Editor is responsible for final acceptance of books in this series.

The publication process for GSA Books takes 6-8 months, once the Science Editor has accepted the volume.
