GSA Books
Author Information
As part of its mission to advance the science of geology, the Geological Society of America publishes peer-reviewed scholarly books, most of them as Special Papers or Memoirs. The Special Paper series is for state-of-the-art treatments of rapidly evolving subjects; nearly all symposium-based volumes fall into this category. The Memoir series is for works likely to remain the authoritative reference on a subject for a number of years. It is the responsibility of the GSA Books Science Editor to decide whether a proposed volume is more suitable for the Special Paper or Memoir series.
The Reviews in Engineering Geology series is the product of GSA's Environmental and Engineering Geology Division, which is responsible for the selection, review process, and acceptance of manuscripts for this series.
Please send book proposals to Bryan Hibbard at books@geosociety.org.

The publication process for GSA Books takes 6-8 months, once the Science Editor has accepted the volume.

For accepted books, volume editors will each receive two complimentary copies of the book (chapter authors each receive one copy and 50 electronic reprints, available as PDF downloads, of their chapter). All authors may purchase additional copies of the book at a 50% discount off the list price.
GSA’s Special Papers, Memoirs, and Reviews in Engineering Geology volumes have been selected for inclusion in the Thomson Reuters Book Citation Index. Content from 2005 onward will appear in the Web of Science and contribute toward H factors.
