Scientists Share Multidisciplinary Discoveries at "Earth System Processes"

(I) Introduction

Focusing on integrative approaches, scientists will explore new findings on the rise of oxygen, biotic recovery from extinctions, human impact on the Earth, hydrothermal systems, and other topics at Earth Systems Processes, June 24-28, 2001, in Edinburgh, Scotland. The Geological Society of America (GSA) and the Geological Society of London (GSL), will co-convene the meeting at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre.

Overviews and highlights of "Archean Earth and Contemporary Life: The Transition from an Anaerobic to an Aerobic Marine Ecosystem," "Controls on Phanerozoic Diversifications and Extinctions: Long-Term Interactions Between the Physical and Biotic Realms," "Anthropogenic Modifications to the Earth System," and "Role of Hydrothermal Systems in Biospheric Evolution" are provided in Section II.
