General Information
Participation in the Fragile Earth meeting is not necessary to participate in the field trip program. However, in the case of field trip participation only we ask for a small fee to cover our administrative costs. Please use the same registration form as for the meeting and tick the category “field trip participation only”. For guests of regular participants, we kindly ask them to register separately under the respective category on the registration form and send the name of the regular participant to .
Registration for the meeting
All persons attending the Fragile Earth meeting must register, including Invited Speakers and Convenors. Please read through this site carefully before you complete your form.
Registration for the Fragile Earth meeting is by payment of the appropriate registration fee. There is no waiving of registration fees. Participants from countries classified by the World Bank as “Low-Income or Lower-Middle-Income Economies” may apply for reduced registration fees (see tables below).
Please, renew your societal memberships to benefit from reduced member rates! Membership will be checked.

The registration fee includes participation in the meeting, information & program book, icebreaker, coffee-breaks, conference dinner (no beverages), limited complimentary W-LAN Internet access. Dinner not included with dayticket.
Invitation letters for visa-applications may be requested as part of the abstract submission procedure in the case of lead authors. If you are a contributing author you may also request an invitation letter as part of your registration for the meeting.
Regular Registration & Late Registration
The early-bird registration deadline is 15 July 2011. After this date and until 31 August 2011 you can still register in advance, but at the higher late registration rates. Advance registration means that you only need to pick up your name badge and documentation once you arrive at the conference.
On-Site Registration
Participants are welcome to register on-site against an additional service-fee of 50 € at the counters located on the ground floor of the meeting premises. Payment in cash preferred, but credit card also possible.
The on-site registration office hours are: Sunday, 4.9.: 4 p.m. - 6 p.m.; Monday, 5.9.: 7.30 a.m. - 6 p.m.; Tuesday, 6.9.: 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.; Wednesday, 7.9.: 8 a.m. - 3 p.m.

List of Eligible Countries for Low Income Status
The following countries have been classified by the World Bank as “Low Income Economies” or “Lower Middle Income Economies”. In order to qualify for these discounts, registrants must currently reside in one of these countries and have to be employed at a research institution in the respective country. Registrants must also present at the time of registration some form of identification (passport and/or institution ID) confirming their status as a resident and scientist in that country (send copy to ).

Payment Options
Payment is accepted by credit card (Visa and MasterCard) or by bank transfer only. These options will be displayed a few pages into the online registration process. At the end of the registration process you will receive a confirmation of your registration by email. The invoice will be available at the meeting.
If you pay by bank transfer please ensure that any bank charges are paid by the participant (no costs to the organizers) and make sure to indicate “participant’s name - BKZ 4200.0190.1769” as reference. Payment by bank transfer must be received no later than 10 days after the respective deadlines for early-bird and late registration. After this time, the higher fee is due.

Liability and Insurance
The organizers of this conference will not assume any responsibility whatsoever for damage or injury to persons or their property during this event. Participants are advised to arrange their own personal travel and health insurance.

If the cancellation is made by post, the letter must reach us by the cancellation deadline, independently of when the letter was postmarked.
If any part of the congress is cancelled by the organizers, the respective fee will be fully refunded.
TRAVEL GRANTS
There will be some travel grant money available for students and young professionals attending the Fragile Earth Conference. In order to be considered, 500 words asking what your interest in attending this meeting, and how would it help further your career were requested. The application period is now closed (deadline was 15 July).
