Two graduate opportunities - Stream Restoration and Subsurface/Energy Geochemistry - UNC Charlotte
Applicants are sought for two funded graduate opportunities at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, Department of Geography & Earth Sciences. A stipend and tuition support are available. The projected start date is August 2018.
(1) Stream Restoration (MS/PhD): This interdisciplinary research examines the impact of stream restoration on a 6 square kilometer urban forested watershed. Applicants with interest in groundwater-surface water interactions and their relationship to stream chemistry are especially encouraged to apply. (2) Subsurface/Energy Geochemistry (PhD): A newly funded project examines the generation of microbial methane and its precursor compounds during the biodegradation of coal beds. A MS in geosciences or a related field, background in geochemistry, and interest in gas and water analysis are preferred. Potential applicants should contact Dr. David Vinson (email@example.com).
