Farouk El-Baz Student Research Grant
This grant is to encourage and support desert studies by students either in their senior year of their undergraduate studies, or at the Masters or Ph.D. level.
NOTE: Applicants who receive a graduate student research grant may not receive this award in the same year. Past GSA research grant recipients may apply and receive this award.

Graduate Student Research Grants
David Weinstein received a GSA Research Grant in 2010 for his proposal: “Rates of coral substrate bioerosion across the shallowest depth range of modern Caribbean reefs: Implications on past and future reef structures.”
UC geology student Scott Reynhout received a
GSA research grant in 2008.
“Pound for pound, I doubt any group has a greater impact on the course of geological research than GSA’s Committee on Research Grants.”
The deadline for student applications and advisor appraisals (2/2/15) has passed. Students will be notified of their status in mid-April.
