Eligibility Guidelines to Apply for Positions
- If you participated in the GeoCorps Program in the past, you are not eligible to apply for regular 3-month summer positions.
- If you are a past participant in the GeoCorps program, you can apply for Guest Scientist positions ONLY. These are the positions clearly marked "Guest Scientist." You cannot apply for another 3-month summer position.
You must be a current GSA member to apply and to participate.
- You are immediately eligible for the program once you submit your application for GSA membership and if you meet the specific eligibility requirements stated in the position description.
- Only United States citizens or those legally able to work in the U.S. may apply to the GeoCorps program. These are U.S. government jobs and you will be required to show documentation that verifies your U.S. work status. You must possess the proper visa or work permit before you apply. Please send a copy of your visa/permit in with your application materials. If you are a non-U.S. citizen, you must have the appropriate work permit similar to applying for any other job in the U.S. For more information about obtaining a visa or work permit in the U.S., please refer to these three websites:
- You must possess a current and valid U.S. drivers license.
- You will be required to show documentation to verify your identification.
- Geoscientists of all levels are eligible to apply : students, professionals, teachers, and retirees. You do not have to be a student to apply to the GeoCorps program.
- You can apply for up to three positions. However, you can only accept an offer for one position.
- If you previously applied for the GeoCorps program but were not selected, you are welcome to apply again this year or in the future.
- If you were previously selected to participate in the program but you chose not to participate, you are welcome to apply again now or in the future.
- Applications received with a postmark date that is past the application postmark deadline are ineligible and will not be accepted.
