Summary
Join a group of Earth Science and Geography eductors who want to learn about the wonders of Australian Earth science. Participants on this trip will also see the use of technology (GPS, GIS, Probe ware) and how it can be used to futher examine the natural environment.
Visit a rainforest, snorkel on the Great Barrier Reef, discover Uluru (Ayers Rock) and more!
This trip is an once in a lifetime opportunity to visit the wonders of Australia and learn about the vastness of time and how it has formed the amazing Downunder landscapes. Learn for to takje these experiences back into the classroom using GPS, GIS and other technologies.
This trip includes all talks, notes, hikes, park entry fees, flights from Los Angles and domestic Australian flights, ground transportation, and accommodation. (In addition you have to cover your flight to and from LAX, meals and spending money).
The trip is open to all elementary, middle and high school teachers.

Leader: Gary B. Lewis is the Director of Education and Outreach for GSA. Gary has been running trips for teacherssince the 1990's. He is a geologist by training and a school teacher by trade. As well as a deep knowledge of all aspects of geoscience, Gary's experience in developing classroon ready materials and his sense of humor add another dimension to the trips he leads.
