Geology of Dinosaur National Monument - Yampa River Trip
Thursday June 6 - Wednesday June 12, 2013
The trip will focus on the geology of Dinosaur National Monument as revealed by the spectacular canyons of the Green and Yampa Rivers. The trip will highlight Colorado Plateau stratigraphy, the Laramide Orogeny, dinosaur fossils, and geomorphic landscapes created by river erosion and tectonic uplift. The trip will be targeted to college students and members of the general public who are interested in the geology of this region. Each day will begin with a morning briefing of what the participants will observe along with selected stops and hikes to highlight specific geologic features. The trip leader will facilitate group discussions to promote active learning.
