This is a Full time – Career Service position. $24.13 to $29.17 per hour (Step Range 56-71). The Department of Natural Resources, Utah Geological Survey has one position located at 1594 West North Temple, SLC, Utah. This position has a probationary period of twelve (12) months. Incumbent will conduct hydrogeologic investigations and/or develop digital ground-water flow models using Modflow; plan and implement supporting research; analyze and interpret complex hydrogeologic data; write interpretive manuscripts for publication; edit and review hydrogeologic reports; serve as a specialist in one or hydrogeologic disciplines; assist in planning and writing proposals for new hydrogeologic project. This is a lead job. Incumbents require limited direction and provide functional supervision to staff. Incumbents exercise independent judgment and utilize advanced expertise in geology to perform professional geologic duties. Per the Governor’s “Working 4 Utah” initiative, beginning August 4 the schedule for this position will be 10 hour days Monday – Thursday. This is a pilot program and will be evaluated fall 2009; schedule subject to change. QUALIFICATIONS: Must obtain professional geologist license within one year of being hired; this requires a Master’s degree plus three years of closely related experience, or a Ph.D. plus one year of closely related experience (position may be reclassified to Geologist if selected candidate does not meet experience and/or licensing requirements for Project Geologist).
