Syros Island, in the heart of the Cycladic archipelago, has been a key area for the study of high-pressure rocks throughout the past few decades. Excellently preserved blueschist- to eclogite-facies lithologies offer a unique opportunity to study processes of burial and exhumation in a young orogen. The authors present a new, highly detailed geological map of Syros and review the current state of research concerning this interesting island.
