The February 2013 GSA Today science article, "Miocene rejuvenation of topographic relief in the southern Appalachians," by S.F. Gallen and colleagues is covered in a 6 Feb. Our Amazing Planet post.
"Continental arc–island arc fluctuations, growth of crustal carbonates, and long-term climate change," by C-T.A. Lee and colleagues, published in the February 2013 issue of Geosphere, is detailed in an 18 Feb. "Climate Central" post.
The Geology article, "Video observations inside conduits of erupting geysers in Kamchatka, Russia, and their geological framework: Implications for the geyser mechanism," by A. Belousov and colleagues (posted online ahead of print on 25 Jan. 2013), is detailed in a 15 Feb. Discovery News post, which includes links to images and video of the geyser.
A 23 Jan. LiveScience/Our Amazing Planet article covers the Geology article "Strong rocks sustain ancient postorogenic topography in southern Africa," by T.E. Scharf and colleagues, which was posted online ahead of print on 17 Jan. 2013.
The Geology article (posted online ahead of print on 4 Jan. 2013) by J.K. Willenbring and colleagues, "Earth is (mostly) flat: Apportionment of the flux of continental sediment over millennial time scales," was highlighted as a 25 Jan. Science "Editor's Choice" pick.
EARTH online features a 14 Feb. 2013 post, Bare Earth Elements: Voices from GSA 2012 — a short slide show by Timothy Oleson about "glimpsing the lighter side" of GSA's 2012 Annual Meeting & Exposition.
According to a 17 Feb. article in the Grand Valley Lanthorn, geologists Peter Wampler and Peter Riemersma of Grand Valley State University (Michigan, USA) were inspired to create their own geology-related photo contest modeled after GSA's Annual Meeting photo contest & exhibit.
