GSA Memoir 198, Evolution of Early Earth’s Atmosphere, Hydrosphere, and Biosphere — Constraints from Ore Deposits. Ore deposits provide insight into the Earth’s early history because they contain elements and minerals that are highly sensitive to the geochemical environment in which they form. What the minerals tell us is a matter of debate, however. This volume contains reports on such questions as, when and how did life develop … did an oxygen-rich atmosphere form … and did sulfate dominate the ocean?

International Book Series, Volume 9 (IBS009), Phase Relations, High-Pressure Terranes, P-T-Ometry, and Plate Pushing: A tribute to W.G. Ernst, is based on a symposium held at the 2003 GSA Annual Meeting. The volume’s research centers on the petrologic and tectonic evolution of convergent plate margins, specifically blueschists and subduction zones. The book leads off with several general process-oriented papers, and also contains groups of papers divided geographically.
