Dear [ insert name ] I'm an active member of the Geological Society of America. We are currently in the process of developing the technical program for the Society's 117th annual meeting, which will be held in Salt Lake City at the Salt Palace Convention Center, 16-19 October 2005. I think your work could be an important addition and I'd like to encourage you to submit an abstract. To give you some background, GSA is a broad, unifying scientific society with 18,000 members. (Visit www.geosociety.org for more on the Society.) We expect 6000+ geoscientists representing all disciplines to attend the annual meeting. Go to www.geosociety.org/meetings/2005/ to view the technical program and access session descriptions. You can submit your abstract online at gsa.confex.com/gsa/2005AM/ and the cost is $18.00 for students, $30.00 for professionals. The deadline is 12 July 2005.
