2005 GeoCorps America™ Participants Selected

More info on GeoCorps America

Congratulations to the 2005 GeoCorps America participants! The US Forest Service, National Park Service, and Bureau of Land Management (BLM) have selected 38 GSA members to participate in the GeoCorps program. These honored members will work in some of the most beautiful places in the US on America’s public lands. Positions include geologists, physical scientists, mining and minerals, paleontology research, soils, mapping, karst management and education and interpretation.

The GeoCorps America program matches GSA members with summer positions in National Parks, National Forests and BLM lands. Members apply each year for positions that the federal land agencies submit to GSA. The Park Service, Forest Service and BLM then interview and select participants from a very qualified pool of applicants. GSA received approximately 280 applications this year for the 38 GeoCorps positions. GSA has a reputation for being an excellent source of expert knowledge in order to fill these positions.

Two main goals of the GeoCorps program are to assist GSA members, especially students, in acquiring ‘real life’ job skills on-the-ground which may boost them to their next career level, and to assist public land managers by supplying excellent candidates to help them achieve their geoscience projects in the field.

We thank our GeoCorps America sponsors that help support these GSA members and public lands around the country.
